Higher Education Innovation Fund (HEIF)

The Higher Education Innovation Fund (HEIF) provides funding for universities to support them in developing key activities such as: knowledge transfer, interactions with businesses and interactions with the wider community. The HEIF funding programme was established by the Department for Innovation, Universities and Skills (DIUS), Higher Education Funding Council for England (HEFCE) and the Department for Children, Schools and Families (DCSF).

HEIF 4 - Funding allocations from 2008-9

The fourth round of funding were announced in September 2007. HEIF 4 will provide funding from 2008-09 with funding rising to £150 million for 2010-11

HEIF 3 Funding over a two year period from 2006-2008

The third round of funding (HEIF 3) is designed to provide support for knowledge transfer activities and will provide funding from August 2006 to July 2008.
The consultation document was published on the HEFCE website in November 2005 for responses to be received by March 2006.
