The Higher Education Funding Council for England’s (HEFCE) Graduate Internship Scheme aims to bring graduates and small and medium sized companies together to deliver graduate level work experience.
In the South East, Buckinghamshire New University, Oxford Brookes University, University of Reading
University for the Creative Arts, University of Portsmouth, Southampton Solent University, University of Southampton, The University of Winchester, University of Brighton, University of Sussex, Canterbury Christ Church University and the University of Kent all received funding from HEFCE.
The internship scheme offers companies up to 6 months project based-internships broadly covering 7 key sectors including.
· low-carbon products and services
· digital industry
· life sciences and pharmaceuticals
· advanced manufacturing
· professional and financial services
· engineering construction
· Industrial opportunities presented by the ageing society.
Following a careful selection and evaluation procedure, the universities involved in the scheme will provide on-going support to both the successful company and graduate. This support can range from mentoring to training.
