Greater South East
HE and regional development in the South East and East of England Regions: an interregional approach to focus on future collaborative activity within the Greater South East

This project focuses on inter-regional collaboration between HEIs and RDAs within the Greater South East (GSE) as a basis for future pilot activity. In the first two years of the project the emphasis of the collaboration will be between HEIs in the South East and East regions where such interaction is currently underdeveloped. It is expected that collaborative projects will be extended to London HEIs when sufficient critical mass has been developed in this first phase. The GSE concept is strongly supported by the respective RDAs in their Regional Economic Strategies.

The initial proposal, to kick start this process, is for a high level conference in summer 2007 for key stakeholders across the two regions.
The core purpose of the conference is to focus on interregional themes which present the prospect of joint projects which would then form the second element of the
project for funding in 2007/8.
